Job summary

Butler University invites applications for a live-in Area Coordinator in Residence Life, overseeing a 500-700 resident area and supervising 12-19 undergraduates. You will provide vision, develop programming, enforce standards, and collaborate with Faculty in Residence to cultivate a supportive campus community.

The position includes a furnished apartment, utilities, meal plan, parking, and on-campus amenities.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or related field preferred.
Bachelor's Degree Required
Demonstrated interpersonal skills
Experience supervising college students
Effective oral and written communication
Sound judgment in decision-making
Ability to manage high-pressure situations
Ability to navigate stair access in emergencies
Knowledge of student development theories
Live-in housing requirement

Responsibilities

Student Growth and Development: support relationships and leadership opportunities.
Community Building: coordinate events and maintain regular contact with residents.
Supervision: lead and evaluate 12-19 RA staff; participate in recruitment and training.
Student Well-Being: conduct safety checks and provide referrals.
Administration & Management: maintain records and manage budgets.
On-Call Duty Rotation: participate in campus-wide on-call rotations and respond to crises.
Facilities Management: coordinate with facilities and maintain occupancy records.
University Responsibilities: support divisional initiatives and partner with campus resources.
