Job summary

Leidos in Washington, DC seeks a Law Clerk to provide litigation support for the U.S. Department of Justice. The role focuses on research, drafting, and document review to help advance DOJ litigation.

Under supervision, you will conduct complex legal research, draft motions and briefs, assess documents for relevance and privilege, and assist attorneys through all phases of litigation while maintaining accuracy under pressure.

Qualifications

  • Requires law degree or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year completed.
  • Sound knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and research resources.
  • Thorough knowledge of Lexis and Westlaw.
  • Hands-on familiarity with word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
  • Familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to deliver high quality work under extreme pressure.
  • U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the direction of a Project Supervisor or Project Manager.
  • Performs complex legal research for the trial staff.
  • Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.
  • Assists in drafting of Program's decisions foundational for later administrative and judicial review.
  • Reviewing documents for relevance and privilege.
  • Ability to conduct research in applicable statutory, regulatory, and case law.
  • Assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.
