Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Hands-on familiarity with computer applications (word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging) and document review/file management systems.
  • Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.
  • U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Overview

The Litigation Support Team at Leidos supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington, DC has an opening for a Law Clerk to perform litigation support duties. This is an opportunity to apply your experience helping the U.S. Department of Justice achieve its mission.

Typical assignments may include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Works under the direction of a Project Supervisor or Project Manager.
  • Performs complex legal research for the trial staff.
  • Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.
  • Assists in drafting of Program’s decisions, which often form the basis for subsequent administrative and judicial review.
  • Reviews documents for relevance and privilege.
  • Conducts research in applicable statutory, regulatory, and case law.
  • Discerns the relevant issues in complex fact patterns.
  • Assists attorneys with all phases of litigation.
Basic Qualifications
  • Requires a Law degree, or current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study completed, or an equivalent level of legal training or education; substitution may be allowed for certain qualifications.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Hands-on familiarity with computer applications (word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging) and document review/file management systems.
  • Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.
  • U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a Government and/or Litigation Support environment.
  • Experience with Relativity, or willingness to reference it on a resume if applicable.
  • Trial experience.
  • Experience with informal adjudications under an agency’s enabling act and regulations.
  • Experience handling large volumes of cases or claims.
  • Current or active clearance.

This position is covered under the Service Contract Act. Leidos reserves all required rights and obligations related to compensation. The pay for this position is $38.77/hr where applicable.
