Job summary

Leidos Inc. in Washington, DC is seeking a Law Clerk to provide litigation support for the U.S. Department of Justice. You will research complex legal issues, draft motions and memoranda, and assist in preparing decisions and review documents under supervision.

The role requires a law degree or current law school attendance, strong knowledge of federal and state court procedures, and proficiency with Lexis and Westlaw. U.S. citizenship and clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a Law degree, or current attendance in an ABA‑accredited law school with at least one year of study, or an equivalent level of legal training or experience.
• Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
• Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
• Hands‑on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
• Hands‑on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Ability to consistently deliver high‑quality work under extreme pressure.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Performs advanced legal research for the trial staff.
• Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.
• Assists in drafting Program decisions, which in many claims set the foundation for subsequent administrative and judicial review.
• Reviews documents for relevance and privilege.
• Conducts research in applicable statutory, regulatory, and case law.
• Discerns the relevant issues in complex fact patterns.
• Assists attorneys with all phases of litigation.
