Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) in Washington, DC seeks a mid-level Paralegal to support the Legal Department on a fast-paced government contracting portfolio. This role reports to the Office of General Counsel and involves legal research, document review, and drafting memoranda and motions.

The ideal candidate has paralegal certification or JD, litigation experience, and proficiency with Lexis/Westlaw, with strong communication and task management under pressure.

Qualifications

• Paralegal certificate or JD, or currently in ABA-accredited law school with at least one year completed.
• At least two years of litigation paralegal experience.
• At least one year of experience in automated litigation support.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state court procedures and legal research tools (LEXIS, Westlaw).
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to work under pressure; professional documentation and organization.

Responsibilities

• Receive, prioritize, and process requests for document review or legal assistance.
• Research and locate responsive documents; identify relevant laws and judicial decisions.
• Perform moderately complex legal research; summarize transcripts for attorney use.
• Prepare preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence.
• Assist in drafting and issuing legal documents, such as motions and briefs.
• Review discovery materials for relevancy and privilege.
• Prepare privilege logs and maintain discovery records.
• Coordinate classification reviews with subject matter experts and collaborate with discovery team.
• Provide high-quality professional support and timely status updates to management.
