Compensation: $30-$40 per hour depending on credentials and experience
Overview: Coalition Legal is the largest pro bono restorative justice law firm in Lake County, Illinois. We seek a bilingual (English/Spanish) paralegal to join our growing practice of three attorneys and two community outreach specialists, primarily practicing in Lake County courts. Our attorneys provide legal representation to low-income Lake County residents on a wide variety of legal matters involving restoration of rights due to old criminal records and related legal problems, allowing clients to achieve their full potential for employment, housing, and personal dignity.
This is a flexible job paying a competitive salary, depending on experience; 15-20 hours a week with a customizable remote schedule; occasional office work at the Office of the Waukegan Township Supervisor in downtown Waukegan, Illinois.
The paralegal is the core paraprofessional of the practice, assisting attorneys in representing clients who petition the court to expunge and seal their old criminal records; assist with driver’s license and other professional license reinstatement; and preparation of healthcare waivers which allow clients with certain criminal backgrounds to work in certain healthcare fields.
The paralegal is responsible for direct client interaction, preparing necessary documentation, and assisting with client preparation for contested hearings in Lake County Circuit Court.
