Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group in Henrico, VA is seeking a Litigation Attorney to join Staff Counsel in a hybrid, full-time role. You will handle complex insurance defense matters from inception through trial, coordinating with claims and business partners and guiding cases to expeditious resolutions.

Independent case management, pre-trials, mediations, and potential trials are part of the responsibilities, with strong emphasis on client communication and strategic negotiation.

Qualifications

• Admitted to the Virginia Bar and licensed to practice law.
• Strong negotiation and courtroom-oriented capabilities.
• Experience defending insurance defense matters preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with claims, adjusters and staff.
• Proficient in legal research using standard databases.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and manages moderate to high exposure civil litigation from inception to conclusion.
• Meets with clients and claims professionals to resolve cases cost-effectively.
• Conducts pre-trials, mediations, arbitrations, and trials when needed.
• Provides legal advice and supports settlements and case strategy.
