Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group in Texas seeks an Attorney licensed to practice law in Texas to join its Staff Counsel team. This role focuses on defending Hanover's insureds in professional liability disputes, D&O matters, real estate/title issues, HOA litigation, and general liability matters, with responsibility from demand letters to trial.

The attorney will conduct depositions, discovery, mediations, arbitrations, and trials, and will coordinate with adjusters and insureds to resolve claims

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice law in Texas state and federal courts.
• 10+ years of civil litigation experience, with defense experience preferred.
• Trial experience is desired.
• Strong knowledge of current procedural and substantive law and agency rules.
• Ability to analyze issues, develop effective strategies, and communicate with claims professionals.
• Willingness to travel for hearings, depositions, and trials.

Responsibilities

• Defend Hanover insureds in general liability, real estate/title issues, HOA, D&O and professional liability matters.
• Independently conduct depositions, pre-trial discovery, mediations, arbitrations, trials, or other legal activities to resolve cases.
• Frequent communications with claim professionals and clients concerning case status and evaluations.
