Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. seeks a Texas-licensed attorney to join our Staff Counsel group to defend insureds in professional and general liability matters, D&O, and real estate/title disputes.

The role involves handling demand letters, agency charges, subpoenas, and lawsuits from inception to resolution, with collaboration from adjusters and insureds to expedite outcomes. The position offers flexible work arrangements, with remote, in-office, or hybrid options, and requires travel to court

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice law in Texas (state and federal courts).
• At least 10+ years of civil litigation experience, defense preferred.

Responsibilities

• Defend claims against Hanover insureds in general liability, real estate/title issues, HOA, D&O and related matters.
• Independently conduct depositions, pre-trial discovery, mediations, arbitrations, trials and other proceedings.
• Maintain frequent communications with claims professionals and clients regarding case status and evaluations.
• Provide legal advice to insureds and claim professionals and assist with strategy development.
• Negotiate settlements as directed and participate in rounds at various stages of litigation.
