Job summary

RumbergerKirk seeks a motivated litigation associate in our Birmingham, Alabama office. The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of civil litigation defense experience and a track record of handling cases from inception through trial.

You will take and defend depositions, participate in hearings and mediations, interview witnesses, draft motions, and collaborate with senior attorneys on strategy. Alabama licensure is required and a strong work ethic is essential.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of civil litigation defense experience.
• Experience in general liability, casualty, premises liability, product liability, or complex litigation preferred.
• Demonstrated case management experience and increasing responsibility.
• Experience with depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and a strong work ethic.
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Alabama.

Responsibilities

• Handle cases from inception through trial.
• Take and defend depositions, attend hearings and mediations, and argue motions.
• Interview witnesses and experts and negotiate with opposing counsel.
• Conduct legal research and draft motions, memoranda, settlement agreements, and trial-related documents.
• Work directly with clients and collaborate with experienced attorneys on litigation strategy and case development.
