Job summary

RumbergerKirk in Birmingham, Alabama seeks a litigation associate with 2–5 years of civil litigation defense experience to join our team. You will handle cases from inception through trial, take depositions, attend hearings, and work closely with clients and senior attorneys on complex matters.

The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials, excellent research and writing skills, and be admitted to the Alabama bar in good standing.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of civil litigation experience.
• Experience in general liability, casualty, premises liability, product liability, or complex litigation preferred.
• Demonstrated case management experience and the ability to take on increasing responsibility.
• Experience with depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Alabama.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle cases from inception through trial.
• Take and defend depositions, attend hearings and mediations, and argue motions.
• Interview witnesses and experts and negotiate with opposing counsel.
• Conduct legal research and draft motions, memoranda, settlement agreements, and trial-related documents.
• Work directly with clients and collaborate with experienced attorneys on litigation strategy and case development.
