Job summary

The University of Southern California is seeking a Laboratory Services Information System Manager to oversee and optimize the LIS and related systems in a high-acuity hospital setting. You will monitor operations, supervise LIS staff, coordinate with hospital departments, and ensure regulatory compliance with CAP/CLIA.

You will work with Cerner systems, PowerChart, Kronos and other tools, driving accuracy, performance and continuous improvement in lab information workflows.

Qualifications

• BS or BA degree in a related field.
• 5 years experience in an acute care facility setting.
• 3 years in a Laboratory Information System Analyst capacity.
• 1 year supervisory experience.
• Familiarity with CAP and CLIA LIS regulations.
• Good management of human resources techniques and rules.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills.
• Clear oral and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor LIS operations and assign tasks to team; evaluate progress.
• Resolve computer-related LIS issues for lab and non-lab staff.
• Assist the Department Director in formulating LIS goals.
• Keep billing data accurate and up to date.
• Coordinate Cerner system communications with hospital staff.
• Gather data for reports, QA data, statistics and essential materials.
• Ensure timely results and patient safety considerations.
• Provide orientation and training for LIS staff.
