Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC seeks an experienced Laboratory Services Information System Manager to oversee LIS operations and ensure efficient, compliant hospital laboratory information systems. You will coordinate LIS activities, train staff, and liaise with Laboratory Staff, hospital departments, and IT for system enhancements.

The role requires supervisory experience, familiarity with HL7, Cerner, PowerChart, SQL, and CAP/CLIA LIS regulations, plus strong data, QA, and performance-improvement

Qualifications

• BS or BA degree in a related field.
• Minimum 5 years experience in an acute care facility setting.
• 3 years in a Laboratory Information System Analyst capacity.
• 1 year of supervisory experience.
• Familiarity with CAP and CLIA LIS regulations.
• Familiar with human resources management principles and rules.
• Strong organization/time management skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor LIS operations and assign tasks to team members.
• Resolve computer-related problems/requests from lab and non-lab staff.
• Assist Director in formulating LIS goals aligned with department objectives.
• Maintain accuracy of data and billing-related master files.
• Coordinate with OC system to inform hospital staff about LIS capabilities.
• Gather data for reports, QA, statistics, and other materials.
• Ensure compliant handling of patient results and age-specific considerations.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and hospital guests.
• Adhere to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Participate in quality assurance activities and continuing education.
• Provide orientation and training for new LIS staff and review changes with the team.
• Assist in accreditation by licensing agencies.
