Job summary

University of Southern California is seeking an Information System Manager for Laboratory Services to oversee LIS operations, guide staff, and ensure compliant, efficient lab information workflows within Keck Hospital. You will liaise with hospital departments and external IS personnel to optimize system integrations and reporting.

The role requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and hands-on experience with Cerner, HL7, SQL, and related LIS tools, while maintaining high data quality

Qualifications

• Requires BS/BA in a related field and 5+ years in an acute care facility.
• Knowledge of CAP and CLIA LIS regulations.
• Ability to lead and train LIS staff and manage resources.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily LIS operations and assign tasks to LIS team members.
• Address and resolve LIS-related issues from lab and hospital staff.
• Ensure CAP/CLIA compliance and accurate billing data.
• Coordinate Cerner/OC system communications with hospital personnel.
• Provide data for QA, reports, and departmental statistics.
• Participate in performance appraisals and staff development.
• Support accreditation processes and safety guidelines.
• Maintain TAT metrics and ensure timely result dissemination.
