Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a Laboratory Services Manager for its Clinical Lab to supervise technical staff and oversee all sections. The role entails budget management, staff development, quality assurance, accreditation support and cross-department coordination in a high-demand lab environment.

The Manager will ensure on-time testing, maintain instrument reliability, and lead performance improvement initiatives while maintaining strong communication with clinical teams throughout the Keck

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree/AA in related field preferred.
• Doctoral-level Scientist: 1+ year; Master's: 2+ years; Bachelor: 4+ years.
• 5 years experience in acute care facility setting.
• 2+ years in a senior or supervising capacity.
• Experience with computer systems, inventory control and budgeting.
• Strong organization/time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage Laboratory operations and oversee department performance including budget oversight.
• Provide administrative reports and cover Lab in emergencies.
• Adhere to Hospital policies and procedures.
• Support accreditation requirements and quality assurance activities.
• Orient new employees and supervise performance appraisals.
• Coordinate interdepartmental and hospital-wide services.
• Schedule staff and ensure adequate staffing levels.
• Ensure timely results within defined turnaround times.
• Maintain effective relationships with physicians, staff and customers.
• Handle multiple priorities and assign tasks accordingly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
