Job summary

Capital Choice Pathology Lab in Silver Spring, MD seeks an experienced LIS/Data Management Technician. The role focuses on CoPath development, data interfaces, and robust reporting within a 24x7 healthcare environment.

You will manage pathology data, perform SQL-based reporting, and collaborate with clinicians, IT, and vendors to ensure compliant, reliable systems across the lab operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, health informatics, or related field.
• 1+ years configuring, developing, supporting, or optimizing CoPath/CoPathPlus; experience with anatomy pathology workflows, SQL reporting, data analysis, interfaces, testing, and issue resolution.
• HL7, ITIL, or similar healthcare IT certification preferred.
• Ability to provide after-hours support for upgrades, deployments, maintenance, and incidents; occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure, and maintain CoPath functionality for pathology workflows including accessioning, case management, gross exam, histology, cytology, result entry, sign-out, and reporting.
• Develop and support interfaces between CoPath and EHR, billing systems, reference labs, instruments, and pathology platforms; write and optimize queries and reports.
• Monitor and support 24x7 production services; triage incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage and analyze pathology data for accuracy, accessibility, and regulatory compliance; support KPI development and ad hoc reporting.
• Plan and execute testing for enhancements and interfaces; support change control and documentation.
• Collaborate with pathologists, lab staff, informatics, cybersecurity, and vendors to improve system usability and reliability.

Education

Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, health informatics, medical laboratory science, or a related field
