Job summary

Vultr seeks a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure across our global data center operations. You will diagnose complex system issues, implement scalable solutions, and work with engineering, operations, and data center teams to maintain secure, reliable environments.

You will apply advanced Linux administration expertise to upgrades, migrations, and automation, contributing to Vultr’s fast-growing cloud platform and expansion efforts.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu).
• Experience with Bash, Python, or similar scripting for automation.
• Hands-on experience configuring web servers, databases, and firewalls.
• Understanding of Linux utilities, security hardening, and virtualization concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux upgrades to support scalability.
• Administer Linux servers and services, diagnose performance or security issues.
• Serve as escalation point for Linux issues and remediation.
• Collaborate with data center teams on new deployments and readiness.
• Migrate applications and systems, assess dependencies and risks.
• Monitor performance and security, maintain compliance with standards.
• Develop automation scripts and tooling to improve efficiency.
• Document architectures and operational standards for scaling.
