Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting our global customer base and data center operations. The ideal candidate is technically driven, detail-oriented, and capable of independent judgment when diagnosing complex system issues.

In this role you will work across systems, applications, and networking layers to maintain secure, reliable environments, contribute to infrastructure upgrades, and support platform

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu).
• Scripting with Bash or Python for automation and tooling.
• Experience with virtualization and networking concepts.
• Hands-on with web servers, databases, caching, and firewalls.
• Understanding of Ceph and distributed storage.
• Knowledge of load balancing and core networking concepts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux system upgrades and infrastructure changes.
• Administer and maintain Linux servers and services, diagnosing performance, stability, or security issues.
• Act as escalation point for Linux-related issues and remediation strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations on data center deployments and readiness.
• Migrate applications and systems, evaluating dependencies and risks.
• Monitor security posture and compliance with standards.
• Develop automation, scripts, and tooling to improve efficiency.
• Document systems, diagrams, and operational standards.
• Work cross-functionally to align IT with platform reliability and scalability.
