Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting our global customer base and data center operations. You will diagnose complex issues and implement scalable solutions, across systems, applications, and networking layers.

The role focuses on secure, reliable environments, infrastructure upgrades, and platform expansion. You will collaborate with engineering, operations, and data center teams to strengthen Vultr’s cloud

Qualifications

• Experience administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu).
• Scripting in Bash or Python.
• Experience with virtualization, networking, or software development is a plus.
• Hands-on with web servers, databases, caching, and firewalls.
• Understanding of Linux utilities, server architecture, security hardening, Ceph, virtualization, load balancing, and core networking.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux system upgrades and infrastructure changes for scalability and reliability.
• Administer and maintain Linux servers and services, diagnosing performance, stability, or security issues.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for Linux-related issues and remediation.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations for data center deployments and readiness.
• Perform migrations, assess dependencies, and plan execution.
• Monitor performance and security posture; enforce security standards.
• Develop and maintain automation, scripts, and tooling to improve efficiency.
• Produce technical documentation, diagrams, and operation standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align admin efforts with platform reliability and business goals.
