Job summary

Raytheon in the United States is seeking a System Administrator to manage a heterogeneous Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment (RHEL 7–9). You will work in a fast-paced, security-focused team, installing software, applying patches, and partnering with Cybersecurity to meet DoD requirements.

Qualified candidates will hold a university degree or equivalent, be eligible for a DoD 8140/8570 certification, and possess an active DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.
• Ability to obtain the Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) within six months of the start date.

Responsibilities

• Managing and maintaining a dynamic Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment (versions 7, 8, and 9).
• Providing system administration in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
• Performing monthly system patches and updates.
• Identifying and remediating vulnerabilities from SCAP scans and STIG findings.
• Ensuring antivirus definitions are up-to-date and servers report to Splunk.
• Managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
• Overseeing system backups and data retention.
