Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting our global customer base and data center operations. The ideal candidate is technically driven, detail-oriented, and capable of independent problem solving.

You will work across systems, applications, and networking layers to maintain secure, reliable environments, contribute to upgrades, and support platform expansion.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu).
• Scripting with Bash or Python.
• Familiarity with virtualization, networking, or software development.
• Hands-on experience with web servers, databases, caching, and firewalls.
• Understanding of security hardening and Linux tooling.
• Knowledge of distributed storage (Ceph) and virtualization concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux system upgrades and infrastructure changes for scalability.
• Administer Linux servers and services, diagnosing performance, stability, or security issues.
• Serve as escalation point for Linux-related issues and remediation strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations on data center deployments and readiness.
• Perform migrations, evaluate dependencies and risks, and plan execution.
• Monitor performance and security posture, implement corrective actions per standards.
• Develop automation, scripts, and tooling to improve efficiency.
• Maintain documentation, diagrams, and standards for future scaling.
• Coordinate with teams to align admin efforts with reliability goals.
