Job summary

Pedernales Electric Cooperative seeks a Lineman Apprentice in Texas to perform duties in operation, maintenance, construction and repair of transmission and distribution systems. You will progress through Apprentice levels while constructing lines, inspecting equipment, and ensuring safety compliance.

The role requires climbing capability, tool handling, and adherence to regulatory standards; valid Texas driver’s license and ability to travel are needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Department of Labor approved Lineman Apprenticeship Program requirements for Apprentice Level 2.
• Operate PEC vehicle(s) for business purposes in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and local law and PEC policies and procedures.
• Maintain driver eligibility through appropriate valid Texas Driver's License and driving record in accordance with PEC policy.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate mastery and continue duties of Apprentice 1 and Apprentice 2.
• Construct and maintain overhead and underground electric lines and equipment.
• Work lines and equipment energized with higher voltage only after successful completion of Apprentice 2 and training.
• Inspect existing primary and secondary power lines and substation equipment.
• Correct and report problems and hazards observed.
• Maintain and operate vehicles and equipment.
• Investigate trouble on lines and locate cause of power outages.
