Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a lineworker to support installation, maintenance and inspection of transmission and distribution facilities. You will drive line trucks and operate related equipment, with emphasis on safe handling of high voltage and coordination with crews.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, no experience required (line work preferred), and a CDL within six months. Overtime, travel, and on-call work are typical aspects of the job.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required for the role.
• No prior experience required; line work preferred.
• Must obtain/maintain a valid CDL license within six months.

Responsibilities

• Opens and closes switches and installs grounding devices to lines and equipment.
• Climbs poles or rides in bucket to install/repair wires and hardware.
• Install/repair underground facilities and related equipment.
• Work with energized lines up to 138 KV using hot sticks or gloves.
