Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Line Mechanic-C: 1 year distribution electrical power line experience or equivalent.
• Line Mechanic-B: 2 years as Line Mechanic-C or equivalent.
• Line Mechanic-A: apprenticeship lineman training with B-200 cert and hands-on demonstrations; external candidates need 4+ years line work.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
• Test, de-energize and ground URD cables and troubleshoot URD equipment.
• Use volt meters, amp meters and other test equipment up to 600 volts.
• Build and erect equipment mountings and overhead transformer installations.
• Perform switching of energized circuits with proper tagging procedures.
• Direct the work of assistants and ensure safety standards.
