Job summary

AEP Service Corporation is seeking a Line Mechanic to install, maintain, and inspect transmission and distribution facilities, including overhead and underground systems. The role advances from Line Mechanic D-style basics to higher classifications with escalating voltages and responsibilities.

Responsible individuals will work with volt meters and electrical test equipment, follow supervision levels, and may lead others while completing apprenticeship documentation. A CDL Class A is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Line Mechanic-C experience: minimum one year distribution electrical power line work or equivalent.
• Line Mechanic-B: minimum two years as Line Mechanic C or equivalent.
• Line Mechanic-A: apprentice lineman training with B-200 cert and hands-on demos.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities and equipment.
• Work on conductors and equipment energized up to 260–600 volts under supervision.
• Test, energize, and troubleshoot URD cable and equipment as directed.
• Direct the work of assigned personnel and complete required apprenticeship cards.
