AEP Texas in Weslaco, TX is seeking a Line Mechanic C for installation, maintenance, and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities, including overhead and underground systems. The role requires progressing through mechanical classifications with certifications and physical requirements.

Responsibilities include assembling and inspecting lines, working with energized conductors up to 600V under supervision, completing apprentice documentation, and traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year distribution electrical power line work experience.
• Or one year of related line experience with a one-year electrical power line school certificate plus 16 weeks internship.
• An Associate degree from an electrical power line school with 16 weeks internship or distribution electrical power line experience.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.

Responsabilités

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead, and underground facilities including conductors, cables, transformers, fixtures, structures and other associated equipment under supervision as skill level dictates.
• After completion of C-100, or equivalent experience, perform work on conductors and equipment energized up to 260 volts under general supervision; assist with work on conductors and equipment energized at secondary voltages to 600 volts.
• After completion of C-100, test, de-energize and ground URD cable, splice and terminate URD cable, and troubleshoot, repair and energize URD cable and equipment under supervision as skill level dictates.
• After completion of C-200, or equivalent experience, work on conductors and equipment energized up to 600 volts under general supervision; use volt meters, amp meters, ground meggers, continuity testers and related equipment.
• After completion of C-200, may cover up stationary tied in primary conductors and equipment under direct supervision as skill level dictates.
• After completion of C-300, may cover up, transfer or move primary conductors and equipment under direct supervision as skill level dictates.
• After completion of C-400, perform duties of Line Mechanic B as described, and progress from direct supervision to immediate supervision.
• Direct supervision to immediate supervision as skill level dictates.
• Capable of replacing fuses and operate switching and sectionalizing devices energized at any voltage under general supervision.
• Build and erect equipment mountings and overhead transformer installations.
• Conduct proper tagging procedures while performing switching of energized circuits
• Perform inspection and trouble-shooting of lines.
• Direct the work of employees assigned to assist.
• Complete Monthly Apprentice Cards and submit to local supervision for review.
