Job summary

American Electric Power Co. in Texas is seeking a Line Mechanic A to assist with installation, maintenance, and inspection of overhead and underground transmission and distribution facilities.

You will operate line trucks and rigging, splice wires, and work on energized conductors under supervision as you progress. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a CDL beginner permit within 60 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid state driver's license; CDL beginner permit within 60 days.
• Willingness to reside within the service territory.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, maintenance, removal and inspection of overhead and underground facilities.
• Splice primary and secondary overhead wires using proper tools and equipment.
• Operate line equipment and perform ground person duties under supervision.
• Progress from direct to general supervision as skill increases and safety training is completed.
