Job summary

AEP Texas Company, Inc. is seeking a Line Mechanic Apprentice to assist in installing, rearranging, maintaining, operating, removing and inspecting overhead and underground facilities in the Corpus Christi area.

The role requires working with line trucks and related equipment under supervision. Successful candidates must reside within the service territory; education is a high school diploma or GED; no experience required though line work or school is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience: No experience required; line work or line school preferred.
• Licenses: valid state driver's license; CDL beginners permit within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist with assembly, installation, maintenance, removal and inspection of underground facilities and conductors under supervision.
• Load, unload, handle, maintain, install and remove poles, towers and structures.
• After training, operate company equipment and perform pole/climb work per instructions.
• Splice primary and secondary overhead wires and use required tools and equipment.
• Inspect and maintain tools, equipment and work area; report irregularities.
