Job summary

The Crescent Hotels Group is seeking a dedicated line cook to prepare food items to specification and ensure a safe, sanitary kitchen environment in Berkeley, CA. You will follow recipes, manage portions, and rotate perishables while maintaining quality and guest satisfaction.

The role requires English fluency, teamwork, and the ability to handle heavy equipment. The position is full-time, on-site, with opportunities to contribute to menu cost management and waste reduction.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate in English.
• Must be a team player with a professional appearance.
• Finger/hand dexterity to operate kitchen equipment.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
• Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs.
• Date all food containers and rotate as per Crescent standards, keeping perishables at proper temperatures.
• Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull, and line setup; note shortages and assist in keeping buffet stocked.
• Return unused items to designated storage, cover/date perishables.
• Assist in planning actions to correct food cost problems and control waste per Crescent standards.
• Operate, maintain and clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, processor, mixer, slicer, oven, tilt kettle, waffle iron, and grill.
• Comply with attendance rules and be available regularly.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
