Job summary

Omni Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Cook 1 | Blind Salamander to join the Barton Creek Resort & Spa kitchen team in Austin, TX. The role focuses on producing plated and station-specific items with care and consistency.

You will follow recipes, maintain food safety standards, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Previous hotel or restaurant experience and ServSafe certification are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years.
• At least 2 years culinary experience in a hotel or restaurant kitchen.
• ServSafe or equivalent food handlers certification required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knife skills required.
• Basic mathematical skills and understanding of weights and measures to follow recipes.
• Familiar with batch and quantity cooking.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced high-pressure environment.
• Flexible scheduling including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently prepare all food items as directed by supervisor and to company specifications.
• Maintain safe food handling procedures at all times.
• Understand large scale food production and times required to complete tasks.
• Plate presentations that meet specifications.
• Produce a mix of plated items (grilling, roasting, baking).
• Complete work assignments to meet quantities within timeframes.
• Communicate effectively with team members.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude in stressful situations.
• Complete other duties as assigned by management.
