Job summary

The Oxford Tap in Leonard MI is seeking a friendly, enthusiastic Line Cook to join our kitchen team. Prior kitchen or fast-paced work experience and a willingness to work evenings and weekends are required.

You will set up stations, cook portions, prep foods, garnish dishes, and help maintain sanitation throughout the shift in our mid-western American restaurant.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen or another fast-paced environment is required.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Ability to multitask quickly and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Set up kitchen and station before opening.
• Cook a portion of each plated meal as assigned by the lead.
• Assist with prepping foods and maintain line pace.
• Plate dishes with garnish and ensure attractive presentation.

To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience in a kitchen OR another fast-paced job environment and a willingness to work. You should also be available to take evening and weekend shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Line Cook

• Helps set up the whole kitchen prior to a restaurant’s opening.
• Sets up a station by bringing all containers of necessary food items to that point in the line.
• Cooks a specific portion of each plated meal as assigned by the lead.
• Assists with prepping foods.
• Keeps pace with other cooks on the line so that all food is ready for each plate simultaneously.
• Steps in to help another line cook who is running behind.
• Assembles dishes and provides garnishment.
• Plates food in an attractive manner to maximize customer enjoyment.
• Pitches in and the rest of the staff to maintain sanitary conditions and organization in the kitchen.
• Wraps unused items and stores in proper areas at the end of a shift and shuts off all equipment at the station.
• Clean and sanitizes the area with soap and warm water.
• Participates in cleaning the rest of the kitchen before the restaurant closes for the night.

• Be willing and able to work a flexible schedule
• Have the ability to lift and carry 10-55 lbs.
