Job summary

Applied Technical Services, LLC (ATS) is seeking a hands-on Lightning Protection Technician to support our Lightning Protection group in the Houston area. The role involves inspections, installations, testing, and retrofits of lightning protection systems on commercial buildings and industrial facilities.

The ideal candidate enjoys outdoor work, can work with engineers and project managers, and is willing to learn NFPA 780 and UL 96A standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness to learn and strong mechanical aptitude.
• Hands-on experience with common hand and power tools.
• Works well in a team and in varied outdoor environments.
• Ability to travel to project sites and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect existing lightning protection systems in commercial/industrial facilities.
• Install, repair, replace, and retrofit protection components.
• Layout conductors and components per project drawings and field conditions.
• Use hand and power tools safely on rooftops and in construction areas.
• Perform testing, measurements, and visual inspections as required by scope.
• Document field conditions, keep accurate notes, and support reports and estimates.
• Travel to Houston area project sites and coordinate with project managers.
