Job summary

The DC Army National Guard seeks a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic to supervise and perform maintenance on wheeled vehicles in the field and shop. You will inspect, service, repair, test, and replace components, including electrical wiring and charging systems.

You’ll train through Basic and Advanced Individual Training while earning a paycheck, tuition assistance, and retirement benefits as part of a National Guard program.

Qualifications

• Interest in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems.
• Interest in automotive engines and how they work.
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be between the ages of 17 and 35.
• Must pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
• Must meet citizenship requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain wheeled vehicles, trailers, and material handling equipment systems.
• Service automotive electrical systems, including wiring harness, starting and charging systems.
