Job summary

The Whatcom Family YMCA is hiring a Lifeguard to keep our pool safe, clean, and welcoming for all. You’ll stay alert, respond to emergencies, enforce rules, and provide friendly service to members and guests while maintaining logs and safety records.

Minimum age 18 with Basic Life Support/CPR-AED, First Aid, and oxygen administration certifications. Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent preferred; training and shifts include weekends and evenings.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent, with ability to maintain certification.
• Physical and mental readiness to perform lifeguard duties.

Responsibilities

• Stay alert and ready to respond to emergencies.
• Prevent accidents and perform rescues per YMCA safety procedures.
• Enforce pool rules with friendly, respectful communication.
• Provide positive customer service to members and guests.
• Record pool chemical readings and required safety logs accurately.
• Keep pool area clean and safe, assist with daily maintenance.
