Job summary

The YMCA is hiring a Lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions across the pool area and to enforce health and safety rules. You will respond to emergencies, create a welcoming environment, and work with other staff to ensure member safety and enjoyment.

You must have Lifeguard certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and AED; candidates must be at least 15 years old and capable of lifting to 50 lbs. Duties include routine pool maintenance and incident reporting.

Qualifications

• Must pass advanced swimming and rescue skills test.
• Lifeguard or Red Cross lifeguard certification required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, on deck, and surrounding areas.
• Enforce health and safety rules and maintain emergency readiness.
• Respond to emergency situations per YMCA policies and procedures.
• Create a welcoming, nurturing environment for all members and guests.
• Complete incident and accident reports as necessary.
• Set up and put away equipment for recreational swims.
