Job summary

The YMCA is seeking a dedicated Lifeguard to monitor pool and deck areas, ensuring safe conditions for members and staff. You will scan for hazards, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies following YMCA procedures, while providing a welcoming and supportive experience for guests.

Requirements include passing an advanced swim/rescue test and current lifeguard certification (YMCA/Red Cross) with CPR, First Aid, and AED.

Qualifications

• Must pass advanced swimming and rescue skills test.
• Lifeguard certification (YMCA or Red Cross) required.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and AED certifications must be obtained and maintained.
• Age 15 or older with ability to exercise mature judgment and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, on deck, and surrounding areas.
• Prevent accidents by scanning assigned zone and enforcing the 10/10 rule.
• Respond to emergencies in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
• Create a welcoming, nurturing environment for members and guests.
• Complete incident and accident reports as necessary.
• Uphold YMCA core values while interacting with the community.
