Job summary

Akron Area YMCA is seeking a part-time lifeguard to monitor pool areas, ensure safe swimming conditions, and respond quickly to emergencies. The role includes maintaining surveillance, performing safety checks, and assisting with incident reports in a supportive Y environment.

Requirements include current Red Cross Lifeguard certification or equivalent, CPR/AED-First Aid, and the ability to work flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Current Red Cross Lifeguard certification or equivalent.
• Minimum age 15.
• Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration.

Responsibilities

• Maintains active pool surveillance at all times.
• Reviews emergency procedures and responds immediately.
• Performs chemical testing and maintains safe swimming conditions.
• Keeps accurate records and reports as required by YMCA/policy.
• Performs equipment checks and ensures availability of necessary gear.
