Job summary

YMCA of Greater Dayton in Versailles, OH is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to supervise the pool and surrounding areas, maintain safe conditions, and respond to emergencies per YMCA policies. You may assist with swim instruction as needed. The role requires at least 15 years old and current or transferable lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR certifications.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years of age.
• Currently hold or be able to obtain CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Lifeguard certification (YMCA/ARC).
• Minimum of six months or more lifesaving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains constant observation of the pool area.
• Enforces pool rules and safety guidelines for all participants.
• Checks for hazards and ensures safety equipment is in place and working.
• May perform Swim Instructor duties as needed.
• Responds to emergencies per YMCA policies, including first aid and CPR.
• Completes incident and accident reports as required.
• Maintains records such as pool chemical readings and equipment inventories.
• Keeps the pool area clean and organized by following procedures.
• Inspects pool and rescue equipment for hazards or wear.
• Sets up and stores equipment; assists with event setup.
• Practices rescue and fitness drills regularly.
• Promotes aquatics and YMCA programs.
• Communicates improvement ideas for the aquatics facility.
• Performs lifeguard duties physically and maintains alertness.
