Job summary

Bath Area Family Ymca Master is seeking a Lifeguard to supervise the pool area in accordance with YMCA policies. Responsibilities include maintaining rescue readiness, enforcing safety rules, and responding to emergencies with CPR/First Aid as required.

Qualified candidates hold current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR certifications and must be at least 15 years old. The role requires being available for all pool hours, including holidays and weekends, and may require local travel.

Qualifications

• Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR certifications.
• Redwoods training as assigned by the Aquatics Director within 1 month of hire.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and members.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to details.
• Extremely reliable, dependable, and punctual.
• Good decision-making skills.
• Ability to take initiative and be self-motivated.
• Ability to use a computer for email, Internet, and any Y related software relevant to the position.
• Must be willing to work all open pool hours, including holidays and weekends.
• Must be at least 15 years of age.
• Possess a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel locally.

Responsibilities

• Maintains rescue readiness at all times.
• Positions to protect entire assigned zone of responsibility and ensures visibility.
• Enforces safety rules and takes corrective action when needed.
• Clears the pool if unsafe and notifies management.
• Attends all mandatory in-service training and staff meetings.
• Finds coverage for shifts and notifies supervisor if unable to work.
• Performs off-scan duties including water chemistry tests and proper documentation.
• Documents accidents and incidents accurately and notifies the manager within 24 hours.
• Other duties as required.
