The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is seeking a Lifeguard/Instructor to ensure the safety and education of patrons in the aquatic facilities. You will supervise swimmers, enforce rules, and deliver swim instruction across skill levels, creating a safe, enjoyable environment for all guests.

Ideal candidates hold current lifeguard, CPR/First Aid certifications, and demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork while maintaining high safety standards.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year as lifeguard or swim instructor.
• Proven safety standards experience in aquatic environments.
• Experience teaching swimming to various age groups.

Responsabilidades

Job Purpose:- The Lifeguard at the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons utilizing the aquatic facilities. This role involves supervising swimmers, enforcing safety rules, and providing swim instruction to individuals of varying skill levels. The Lifeguard/Instructor plays a critical role in promoting a safe, enjoyable, and educational environment for all members and guests.Key Responsibilities:- Monitor activities in the aquatic area to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all swimmers.- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, providing first aid and rescue when necessary.- Enforce all pool rules and regulations to ensure a safe and orderly environment.- Conduct swim lessons and aquatic programs for individuals and groups, tailoring instruction to meet the needs of participants.- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool deck and surrounding areas.- Perform regular safety checks and inspections of equipment and facilities.- Attend and participate in all staff meetings and training sessions.- Provide excellent customer service to all members and guests, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally.- Assist in the development and implementation of aquatic programs and activities.- Maintain accurate records of swim lessons and participant progress.Required Education:- High school diploma or equivalent.Required Experience:- Minimum of 1 year experience as a lifeguard or swim instructor.- Proven track record of maintaining safety standards in aquatic environments.- Experience in teaching swimming lessons to various age groups.Required Skills and Abilities:- Valid lifeguard certification from a recognized authority (e.g., Red Cross, YMCA).- Strong swimming skills and physical fitness.- Excellent communication skills for instructing and engaging with participants.- Ability to remain calm and act swiftly in emergency situations.- Proficient in CPR and First Aid.- Strong observational skills to ensure the safety of all participants.- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently when necessary.
