Job Purpose:- The Lifeguard at YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals in and around the aquatic facility, while maintaining a welcoming and professional environment.Key Responsibilities:- Monitor pool activities and enforce safety rules to prevent accidents.- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, administering first aid and CPR as needed.- Conduct regular inspections of pool equipment and facilities to ensure safety standards are met.- Provide excellent customer service and support to all patrons.- Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain lifeguard certifications and skills.Required Education:- High school diploma or equivalent.Required Experience:- Previous lifeguarding experience preferred.- Experience in a customer service role or similar environment.Required Skills and Abilities:- Strong swimming skills and ability to perform water rescues.- Knowledge of CPR, First Aid, and AED usage.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.- Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergency situations.- Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
