Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is seeking a Lifeguard/Instructor to ensure the safety and education of patrons in the aquatic facilities. You will supervise swimmers, enforce rules, and deliver swim instruction across skill levels, creating a safe, enjoyable environment for all guests.

Ideal candidates hold current lifeguard, CPR/First Aid certifications, and demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork while maintaining high safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year as lifeguard or swim instructor.
• Proven safety standards experience in aquatic environments.
• Experience teaching swimming to various age groups.

Responsibilities

• Monitor aquatic area to prevent accidents and ensure swimmer safety.
• Respond promptly to emergencies with first aid and rescue as needed.
• Enforce pool rules to maintain safe, orderly environment.
• Conduct swim lessons and aquatic programs for individuals and groups.
• Maintain pool deck cleanliness and equipment inspections.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in training sessions.
• Provide excellent customer service to members and guests.
• Assist in developing aquatic programs and activities.
• Keep accurate records of swim lessons and progress.
