Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a part-time Lifeguard II at the Waltham YMCA to guard the pool, enforce rules, and follow branch emergency protocols.

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, you will perform rescues, CPR/First Aid, and maintain a safe pool environment while assisting with cleaning and testing when not on duty. The role requires 18+ years and ability to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.
• Must be able to scan the pool visually.
• May be required to sit or stand for extended period of time.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Guard the pool to prevent emergencies and ensure patron safety.
• Recognize emergencies and respond immediately.
• Know and activate branch and pool EAP when needed.
• Perform assists or rescues as needed.
• Provide CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen as needed.
• Complete incident reports promptly.
• Enforce pool rules and handle issues professionally.
• Maintain a clean and safe pool environment at all times.
• Assist with cleaning and testing of the pool when not on duty.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors.
• Attend branch safety and quality drills and trainings.
