Job summary

The Lifeguard II role at YMCA of Greater Boston is a part-time, non-exempt position based at Menino YMCA. You will guard the pool, enforce rules, and follow branch emergency protocols to ensure patron safety.

Under supervision of the Aquatics Director, you will perform rescues, provide CPR/First Aid as needed, and participate in branch safety drills and trainings. Must hold active lifeguard certifications.

Qualifications

• Must have active lifeguard certifications (YMCA, Red Cross) within four weeks of employment.
• CPR, First Aid, O2 certifications required.
• Excellent communication and member safety orientation.

Responsibilities

• Prevent emergencies by scanning the pool continuously.
• Recognize emergencies and address them immediately.
• Know and activate branch EAP when needed.
• Perform assists or rescues as needed and provide CPR/First Aid as required.
• Complete incident reports promptly and accurately.
• Enforce pool rules with professionalism and courtesy.
• Maintain a clean and safe pool environment at all times.
• Assist with pool testing and cleaning when not on stand.
• Keep supervisors informed with clear communication.
• Attend monthly and yearly in-service trainings.
