Job summary

Indian Boundary YMCA in Downers Grove, IL is seeking a part-time lifeguard to keep swimmers safe and provide excellent service during mid-day hours. No experience needed; we provide lifeguard and CPR training, free YMCA membership, and growth opportunities within a mission-driven team.

Must be at least 15 years old and able to perform water rescues. Flexible schedule Mon-Fri 12-5pm. Join our welcoming community and make a difference.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Strong swimming skills and ability to perform water rescues.
• Willingness to complete lifeguard and CPR training (provided by us).
• CPR, First Aid, and AED knowledge or readiness to learn.

Child Abuse Prevention- Supports the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by:

• Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
• Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children
• Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
• Completing all child abuse prevention training as required

QualificationsRequired Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience:

• Previous lifeguarding experience preferred.
• Experience in a customer service role or similar environment.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Strong swimming skills and ability to perform water rescues.
• Knowledge of CPR, First Aid, and AED usage.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergency situations.
• Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
