Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is hiring a Lifeguard to keep swimmers safe and provide friendly service during the mid-day shift (12-5pm), Monday through Friday. This role offers flexible hours and a welcoming environment.

No prior experience is required; free training and CPR certification are provided, and a free YMCA membership is included. Starting pay is $18.00 per hour, with opportunities to grow.

Applicants must be at least 15 years old and physically able to perform water rescues.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Physical ability to perform water rescues.
• Willingness to complete lifeguard and CPR training provided by YMCA.
• Previous lifeguarding experience preferred.

Child Abuse Prevention

- Supports the YMCA's commitment to child abuse prevention by:

• Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
• Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children
• Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
• Completing all child abuse prevention training as required

Qualifications

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience

• Previous lifeguarding experience preferred.
• Experience in a customer service role or similar environment.

Required Skills And Abilities

• Strong swimming skills and ability to perform water rescues.
• Knowledge of CPR, First Aid, and AED usage.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergency situations.
• Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
