Job summary

Sage YMCA in Crystal Lake, IL is hiring a Lifeguard to keep swimmers safe and provide great service to members and guests. No experience required — we provide lifeguard and CPR training, and the position offers flexible mid-day hours (12-5pm) Monday through Friday.

Starting pay is $18.00 per hour with free YMCA membership and opportunities to gain certifications and grow your career within a mission-driven team.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 15 years old
• Physical ability to perform water rescues
• Willingness to complete lifeguard and CPR training (provided by us)

Child Abuse Prevention - Supports the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by:

• Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
• Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children
• Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
• Completing all child abuse prevention training as required

Qualifications

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience:

• Previous lifeguarding experience preferred.
• Experience in a customer service role or similar environment.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Strong swimming skills and ability to perform water rescues.
• Knowledge of CPR, First Aid, and AED usage.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergency situations.
• Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
