Job summary

Bridgewater State University lifeguards will support the Aquatics Facility operations and monitor Moriarty Pool users to ensure safety and enforce rules. They will also assist with safety, customer service, and minor maintenance during shifts.

Required certifications include Lifeguarding and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer; candidates must be BSU undergraduates enrolled for at least six credits for Fall 2026. Hourly rate is $16.00, with background check and E-Verify required.

Qualifications

Position Information

Title

Title Lifeguard

Position Description

Lifeguards will assist with the operation of the Aquatics Facility alongside the Facility administration. They will also monitor Moriarty Pool users while ensuring safety and enforcing rules.

Lifeguards will be expected to:

• Assist with safety and customer service assistance during shift
• Act as a rescuer/caregiver in emergency situations
• Assist with building cleanliness and minor maintenance
• Recognize and prevent potential accidents/incidents.
• Reports safety concerns to appropriate administrative personnel

REQUIREMENTS :

• Current certification in Lifeguarding
• Current certification in CPR / AED for the Professional Rescuer
• Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 semester.

• Good people skills and the ability to supervise
• Awareness of health and safety procedures
• Alertness and a sense of responsibility
• The ability to remain calm and act appropriately in an emergency
