Job Title: Field Media Services Technician II – FL

Department: Lifecycle

Reports To: Service Center Manager

Status: Non-Exempt

Summary:

The role of Field Media Services Technician II will lead field crews when servicing air and water treatment systems in an array of industrial and construction related settings. Sites settings and locations will vary and provide valuable experience on how and why these systems operate. Responsible for installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of water treatment equipment at customer locations. Help the environment by servicing the systems responsible for cleaning up contaminated water and air and filtering the public’s drinking water supply.

ESSENTIAL Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Represent Newterra in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Service activities including preparing for and executing carbon exchange services.
  • Travel to site via vehicle or air flight, including driving company vehicle and towing required equipment.
  • Driving and positioning trucks loaded with equipment under 26,000 lbs.
  • Positioning and connecting hoses and equipment.
  • Operating truck mounted and skid mounted vacuum systems.
  • Communicate with technicians, contractors and project managers.
  • Promote Newterra’s services for repeat site visits and routine maintenance.
  • Conduct Onsite Operator Training.
  • Provide technical support for operating systems and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain a respectful working relationship with all clients.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical equipment failures and determine proper solutions.
  • Ensure all schedules are met, set expectations early as schedule risks are identified.
  • Issue commissioning report per the company defined process.
  • Warehouse duties such as general maintenance (cleaning, sweeping, organizing), unloading and storing inventory, dumping and bagging spent medias, assembly, shipping and receiving.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Describe operation of water systems to customer, actively participates in both administering and receiving technical training.
  • Adhere to the company policies and processes and bring forward ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for completing all assigned training applicable to your position in the applicable timeframe.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workspace.
  • Responsible for performing duties in a safe manner and promoting safety to others in accordance with Newterra’s safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete all responsibilities while ensuring adherence to Newterra’s Delegation of Authority.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, technical trade certificate, electrician, millwright, or equivalent experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years old for entry onto job sites and must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a company vehicle.
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • Valid passport for travel as needed.
  • Passing of D.O.T. Physical - determination that no pre-existing conditions exist that would impede accomplishing job duties as indicated.
  • Ability to wear and qualify for the use of ½ and full face air purifying respirators (APR).
  • Drug & Alcohol screen.
  • Preferred but not required:
    • CDL-A Driver’s License
    • Vacuum Truck Experience.
    • Prior OSHA certifications and confined space training.
    • Prior experience operating forklifts and aerial lifts (scissor lifts, manlifts, etc.).
    • Understanding of PLC programming and HMI logic (Allen Bradley, Automation Direct, Schneider, Honeywell).
    • Water treatment process knowledge (Media, MBR, RO, UF, Chemical Systems, etc.).
    • Experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of industrial equipment (piping, valves, pumps, etc.).
    • 3-5 years’ experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Experience with independent travel preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with result driven approach.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to travel Monday – Friday, including overnight, and some weekends, as needed.
  • Detail oriented with ability to creatively solve technical challenges and manage timelines.
  • Positive attitude with a desire for growth and success.
  • Must be able to lift 55lbs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time. Ability to use your senses to see, smell, hear and touch. Use of hands to control, handle and operate equipment. Accurate hand/eye coordination. Finger dexterity, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull up to 55 lbs. Working in tight spaces, confined spaces, and elevated surfaces. Wearing full and ½ face respirators and Tyvek coveralls while working in hot & cold conditions.

Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments. Field work on outdoor and indoor sites involving long-term standing, sitting and repetitive motions, confined spaces, and working from heights. Use of power tools. Use of heavy equipment including forklifts and aerial lifts. Working in areas with known hazardous chemicals and potentially hazardous conditions.
