Hourly base pay rate is $28.70 - $43.03/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.
Job Description
The work shift is Thursday to Monday, 11am - 8pm.
The Hospitality Technician I – Convention Services is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and service of custom hospitality products specializing in convention services. The technician ensures 100% uptime during customer events through monitoring and maintenance. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality customer service, upholding standards, and collaborating with departmental resources such as Hospitality Technician II, show management, decorators, sales, engineering, and partner venues to meet customer demands.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform all Layer I and Layer II applications for equipment installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, debugging, and adjustments.
- Coordinate with customers, building services, show management, exhibitors, and vendors for installation of hospitality products, including access to areas like IDFs, DCC, roof, etc.
- Assist Hospitality Technician II with equipment related to phone, data communication, and advanced services.
- Communicate effectively with customers, business partners, customer service reps, decorators, and hotel staff, providing excellent customer service.
- Provide direction to team members, vendors, and property personnel based on show and property needs.
- Verify operational performance of system equipment for compliance with design specifications and service quality targets.
- Use designated test equipment and tools specific to Hospitality Services.
- Maintain and troubleshoot metro area networks (MAN) and wide area networks (WAN) over fiber, Ethernet, and GigE links.
- Ensure cable drops and floor runs are completed professionally, prioritizing customer and attendee safety.
- Possess knowledge of wiring standards, including older convention spaces.
- Competent in splicing 6/12 single-mode and multi-mode fiber.
- Verify that maps and floor plans are accurate and approved by customers or customer service.
- Engage with customers before, during, and after installations to answer questions and ensure satisfaction.
- Respond to trouble tickets within key performance metrics.
- Assist with order validation for quotes.
- Manage deinstallation after customer move-out.
- Recover and dispose of temporary equipment and cabling responsibly.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Stay current with technology and safety standards.
- Assist with inventory management.
- If driving is required, possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Operate boom lifts as needed.
- Support cross-functional teams such as Hospitality Network, Blueprint RF, etc.
- Maintain professional appearance.
- Work on-call as scheduled, including after hours, nights, and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to carry and use tools and equipment.
- Ability to distinguish wire colors.
- Frequent bending, stooping, crawling.
- Physical capacity for ladder work, fall protection, lifting, and carrying heavy items.
- Perform tasks involving climbing, reaching, lifting up to 63 lbs, and working in various positions.
Environmental Requirements:
- Work in high places, confined spaces, and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Navigate environments with loud sounds and moving freight equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum
- High School diploma/GED + 1 year in convention services, or 3 years in related cable/telecom, or 7 years in hospitality/convention services.
- Knowledge of installing, terminating, maintaining Cat3/5/6, fiber cabling.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Unix, Navicat, MySql, PCAnywhere, Cisco Prime, Solarwinds, WLC, SecureCRT, Aruba Airwaves, Adobe.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Meet physical and technical requirements, including color differentiation and hearing ability.
- Maintain required certifications/licenses (OSHA10, lift certifications, etc.).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record if driving is required.
- Pass background checks and other project-specific requirements.
Preferred
- Higher education or certifications in related disciplines (e.g., Marketing, Engineering).
- Certifications such as AS/AA, A+, N+, CCNA preferred.
- Experience in telecommunications or cable industry.
